THE SHOPS AT GLACIER TOWN CENTER (In Development)
Kalispell, Montana

The design concept was developed through the study of academic and vernacular architecture styles prevalent in the northern Rocky Mountains.  Areas of study ran from the street facades of Whitefish and Kalispell, to the lodges of Glacier Park; to the often overlooked cabins and farmhouses, scattered amongst the nearby mountains and valleys.  Forms, shapes and materials were abstracted from this research and introduced in both traditional and contemporary ways throughout the center.  Materials include fiber cement siding replicating the lumber siding prevalent in the area, cultured stone in many patterns as well as metal ribbed roofing and fabric awnings.  The lifestyle center is designed in a dumbbell pattern with the major department stores anchoring the end positions with the center position being anchored by the food court, designed in a style reminiscent of the nearby lodges.
