LOUISIANA PURCHASE BUILDING
at LOUISIANA DELTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
This phase one building of approximately 115,000 sq. ft. is the introductory building for the Louisiana Delta Community College campus. This particular building houses campus administration, student facilities, the library, conference facilities, bookstores, and multiple classrooms. The selected design concept is an impressive combination of the traditional and the contemporary. The central tower with cupola and canopies reflect a mixture of Early Classical Revival and Adam Style abbreviated with a glass curtain wall and contemporary detailing. A traditional basement element of split-faced block is topped by horizontal bands of masonry designed in a fashion to visually divide the building's mass. The slate gray roof shingles and traditional dormers help to reinforce the more traditional aspects of the structure.
